I’m still waiting for the lovely more tranquil me to arrive, she’s been held up apparently. She’s probably interceding on the side of reason in a checkout debacle somewhere.
So, another 1.5 lbs down. Weeks ago I prepared a picture of an ecstatic me, ready to post it on the occasion of my first stone weight loss. I was a bit ahead of myself, no one should hold their breath for that particular land mark, it’s probably another couple of weeks away……. at least. I’m resigned to the slow nature of my weight loss. However, I imagine that if I was gaining weight at this rate, it would seem very fast indeed.
I should introduce you to Huevos Rancheros, Huevos for short. We sometimes work together. Huevos reads this blog. I told him I was writing a diet blog and his eyes didn’t completely glaze over, so I read him some posts and he has been encouraging. Sometimes he reads posts when I put them in front of him. Sometimes he reads them on the train to work….I might be a blog pushing bully, but let’s skim over that for the moment.
Huevos has started lifting weights at the gym. He has found out how much protein he should eat to optimise muscle development. The answer is a lot apparently, he’s having to carry big bags of nuts everywhere to ensure ample consumption.
I like a straightforward approach to nutrition. I considered for a while that it might be a masculine trait but it’s probably a sensible slim person thing. Talking about diet, not weight loss, just what to eat, Huevos introduced me to Michael Pollan’s article written in 2008 for The New York Times. In seven words he tells us all we need to know about healthy nutrition:
Eat food, not too much, mostly plants.
Ok Michael, will do.
I aim to apply this absolutely to my weight maintenance program should I live so long that I manage to hit my target weight.
12 lbs down, only 44 more to go.
