I’ve said it before, and I believe it absolutely, everyday I learn a lesson.
The surprising things are when you learn something new about yourself. I’m never surprised to find that I’m not as nice as I would like to be. This popped up most recently with the news that the johnson has the virus, I snorted. Also that he didn’t get the clap his supporters wanted. Pah! No, I mean things like, I can’t have cans of M and S pina colada in the house without going a bit dipso. The only drink I’ve previously had to ban from home is sherry, it doesn’t matter what sort, in fact, the cheaper the better. I have a glass and I need to drink the bottle. I love gin, always have, but out. We have optics in the kitchen and the gin went off, I can take or leave it at home, mostly leave it obviously. I’m not much of a drinker these days but now I have another alcohol, Achilles heel to join the cheap sherry one. Cornflake brought home cans of pina colada ahead of our party, I know, classy. I drank too many and the party was postponed.
As I write it’s just six in the evening, it would only be five if the clocks hadn’t gone forward yesterday. I’ve spent 9 hours straight on the computer, now I’m on the sofa, iPad in hand and a pina colada that Cornflake foraged for me by my side, I’m very happy but I’m glad there’s just the one can.
Part of today’s work centred around my laptop not letting me in. The key pad only partially works, I’ve been battling with the space bar for some time. My work documents can often read like a very long email address, word after word with no spaces, occasionally a full stop. Today so many keys had stopped working that my password can’t be typed, I need a password made up of Ms, Rs, Ps and As only. Given the present global situation there’s only limited tech support on offer. On advice I’ve ordered a USB key board online. The only reasonably priced option that can be delivered tomorrow, is made especially for gamers. It lights up as you use it. I can’t wait. Let’s hope that it does the job. My beautiful MacBook Pro will only get me so far when all the stuff I need is else where.
The lesson today? Back up you mad tart!
