Gibbon news

I have been very curious about my new gibbon neighbours.

It turns out that the two gibbons are father and son. They are Northern white cheeked gibbons. The smaller one, Jimmy, is the dad and he is the most interested in people. Girls particularly, brunettes specifically. He is the most vocal of the two. He’s a handsome chap, very fit for thirty, but if he really wanted to impress a dark haired girl he might have to consider stopping his habit of scratching his arse with the salad ingredients he’s holding in his feet. Unless of course, the girl in question was another Northern white faced gibbon in which case she might be impressed.

His son, Yoda is twenty years old and much bigger than his dad. He is the dominant one and is motivated by food, he is way less interested in people. Given his interest in food and his lack of interest in the public at large, we might get on well, if he bothered to say hello.

I received all of this information from a friendly zoo keeper who passed by one visit. I might have found this all out on the website for ZSL London. If only my fashion background would ease off and I didn’t always internally have the zoos initials down as YSL.

Unsurprisingly there’s no mention of gibbons whatsoever on the Yves St Laurent website.
