Happy winter solstice one and all.

All in all Sunday was a very nice day. Cornflake and I took a quick trip to the apple store for my Xmas gift and I can barely contain my excitement.

Afterwards, a day after the event, Marmalade, GorJus and myself trotted up Primrose Hill to raise a glass, tin actually, to my Mum. If she was still with us she would have been 102 years old. She didn’t celebrate her birthday but I do, still.

We chose Primrose Hill to get a view of the sunset at four o’clock, but it was so misty that neither the sunset nor the famed view over London was visible. We didn’t care, booze, nibbles, chocolate, lots of dogs to look at and nonsense to talk kept us amused.

I was momentarily concerned that as I was wearing my dad’s hoody, the can of alcohol might make me look down and out.

According to the woman we scared off a bench, we had just missed the Druids.

A day or even two early surely?

I wondered if they were part time Druids, or just unable to get time off their day jobs on Tuesday to mark the winter solstice on the actual day. I wonder if Pagan accountants are similarly unable to give full attention to their Yule log on Tuesday and were also celebrating on the nearest weekend.

Sad face.

They should visit interfaith.org, see if they can give them some leverage with their bosses.
