This is of course refers to the 3rd century Roman saint Valentine celebrated on 14th February, not one of the many other St Valentines, whose saints days are spread across the year. Some sources say another eleven, some seven in total. Either way I would have recommend that any early Christian should avoid naming their child Valentine. I suggest this in a bid to avoid torture and a premature painful death for their offspring, albeit with the chance of later sainthood.
Hind sight and all that.
Anyhow, his ill timed demise brightens up February for a bit between January and Spring.
So, I wish all you courtly lovers, beekeepers and epileptics out there a very happy Valentine’s Day, and the rest of us will tag along if you don’t mind.
