Saturday.
That was a funny old week.
The weather has been swinging between down right nasty, drizzle, cold, dull and bright, crisp and sunny, warm at times, differing day to day, sometimes changing throughout the day., sometimes through the hour, it feels like by the minute.
It’s the sort of weather that announces annually that Spring is definitely in the air.
It’s not just the weather that heralds the new season. Daffodils everywhere. Even in the city you can feel a bit Wordsworth.
I’m hardly in my studio at all at the moment. On Tuesday I was, at lunchtime Marmalade and I popped out to buy flowers, I like to have fresh flowers. The weather was gorgeous. We did get flowers eventually, but not until I had purchased a new dress and we had cocktails by St Pauls.
I would definitely categorise that as Spring behaviour, new beginnings, fresh starts, new clothes, fun times.
In keeping with this sentiment I appear to have resigned from a long term employment. I was seriously discontented. Another year on, same old shit. A colleague asked me to outline my not unreasonable grievances in an email, with the intention of then trying to resolve issues. It was very kind of her to take this on.
I wrote the email. When I read what I’d written I realised that what was in front of me was a letter of resignation in all but name. I was a little surprised, but on reflection, realistically, with the situation as it has been and continues to be, it’s probably the only palatable outcome for all concerned.
Whatever happens, my working life will not be the same come mid May.
Marmalade now thinks the gold table has magical powers, yesterday she and BelVita had been sitting at it wishing I’d give up that particular work to concentrate on my new business…and it appears that I did and I will be.
Get those cocktails and new dresses in while you can love.
OMG!
