Pina Colada

The perfect drink for those folks who are tired of their partners and are sneakily looking for an upgrade, probably on the internet.

When said partner finds out that they too, love pina coladas, and walks in the rain when they answer the advertisement, they may of course both realise that they are potential love cheats and dump each other once the mortgage situation is sorted.

The alternative, as per the 1979 song, is that love burns anew.

Yeah right.

Martini

This is the perfect drink for those who aspire to a James Bond level of alcohol based sophistication, for those who’ll happily drink a hard core bitter snifter if it’ll get them pissed quickly and for those, like me, who really like the glass shape and olives.

Dry, extra dry or dirty….whatever.

Beer

For the uncomplicated person in the office who, male, female or other, wants to be one of the lads.

Beer is surely the least sophisticated of all alcoholic beverages, unless it’s served in a lovely glass and is further elevated by a European name.

Champagne

A glass of quality bubbly.

Champagne of course, not one of the cheap alternatives , because there are times when absolutely nothing else will do. It magically transforms any occasion in to a special one. It adds a level of glamour and sophistication to even the most out of control piss ups.

It goes with everything, as a rule of thumb, if you could drink lemonade or beer with it, you can substitute champagne.

Aperol Spritz

The perfect drink for those who drink to remember that overseas beach holiday, the warmth, the sand beneath their feet, the sunset over the ocean. Also appropriate for those who like to look like they’re remembering a great holiday while actually just drinking strong liquor after work.
