Escher’s finest work

If you believe Wikipedia, the architects Chamberlin, Powell and Bon, designed the Barbican.

I think Wikipedia may have that wrong, and the Barbican was actually built using an Escher drawing as the plan.

I have attempted to use the Barbican as a short cut several times recently but these have all turned out to be long cuts. One time after twenty minutes I resurfaced at the point at which I entered.

One theory I’ve considered is that the staircases move like those in Harry Potter, but that’s just silly.

The Escher theory is the only one that makes sense.

I say this confidently as I now know that I’m not the only person to lose my way there. Apparently during construction twice as many security staff were required for the site as half of them would be lost at any time. I learned this from a friend of a friend on facebook so it must be true.
