Taking the dog for a walk suggests the dog owner is going for a walk and takes the dog along.
How many dog owners would go out for a walk everyday, twice a day sometimes, if there was no dog involved?
I think it’s the dog that takes its owners out.
I think that I’m my own fat Labrador. I drag us out for exercise, or at least get to work daily. As to wether that’s me the Labrador, or me myself doing the dragging I couldn’t say. Answers to questions such as the one posed above are much more difficult when one person/dog is imaginary.
