Winning?

I’m wearing a polo neck jumper.

Usually if anyone was to ask me what my favourite clothes item might be, I would be torn between shirt dress, fine merino jumper or silk slip. Today the answer is a firm, Jumper.

It’s shocking that it’s the wearing of a jumper for the first time in months that has brought me back here for a chat. My summer has been busy, interesting and eventful but sadly hasn’t got my writing juices flowing. I say sadly for my own part rather than yours. I like when my ‘tarts’ as they’re known here, pop up as memories.

My lack of’tarting’ is no doubt due at least in part to the political shit show that is currently the world we live in. I feel the need to comment but realise that no amount of ranting from this old bird is going to make a difference.

What is the point?

I am aware that my political leanings are not those of the majority. If I was a candidate in line for office and I found out that I had my support, I’d throw the towel in then and there. Can I remember when I last voted for a winner? Well, yes I can and it fills me with horror, it was the first Blair government.

And yet if I were to list the things I hate most I bet that there were be few who would argue against them.

Here’s a short list of things I hate, in no particular order, obviously not comprehensive but it’ll give you a flavour of my current state of mind.

  1. Genocide 2. Racists. 3. Anyone who will excuse genocide for any reason. 4. Folding a fitted sheet. 5. People and governments who support genocide. 6. Moths. 7. The fact that my country is being overrun by fascist bigots (I want my country back)

A list of things I love might be more controversial, again not in order.

  1. Knitwear. 2. Friends and family (mostly). 3. A party that starts at six with cocktails and dancing so I can get merry, dance, eat and be home in bed by ten thirty (thanks Red). 4. Cornflake. 5. Breakfast. 6. Shoes.

I try to stay positive, on the plus side of the life accounting spreadsheet, it’s jumper time of year and much sooner than I expected. AND when I reorganised my wardrobe in recognition of this, only one jumper has been got at by moths. I feel like I’m on the winning side. Result.
