Three truths

After much deliberation and a momentary lack of confidence I went to the gym last night in the ultimate low vis outfit, or what some might describe as a full ninja ensemble, black from neck to toe.

During my first gym session in fourteen years I learnt three things, truths you might say:

1) Comparatively I am not as fat as I think. I’m not sure when I’ve ever seen so many fabulously fit bodies or so many thoroughly fat ones. I take encouragement in the whimsical notion that all the former started as the latter even though personal experience suggests that the reverse of this can quite easily be the case.

2) I am much less fit than I thought. Twenty minutes on a walking machine amongst an hour of physical activities, left me in need of a taxi home. The walk home takes twenty minutes.

3) It really doesn’t matter what you wear to the gym. No one is looking. No one. This is doubly so if there are mirrors in the vicinity.
