The shadow of a dog

The Frenchie household has two dogs. One is called Bizzi, I’ve drawn her before. She’s a Yorkshire terrier or a Yorkshire terrorist if you prefer. It’s certainly accurate or at least gives the flavour of this small dog. A list of her personal attributes/habits would not likely endear her to anyone, and yet you can’t help loving that face, her excitement at seeing you and the fierce defence of her right to be beloved above all others.

The battle to be beloved above all others is difficult as her older dog sibling, Luli, is an ancient shitzu with the sweetest temperament of any dog, ever. Her cat sibling Graphy is a wild, muscular, deep graphite grey panther of a cuddle bug. That’s not easy to beat in the beloved stakes either.

Unlike the dog in Aesop’s story when seeing its reflection, Bizzi does not see her shadow and imagine it another dog. No, she knows that the much bigger, hairier, sunshine rendered image of herself is the real version of her, physically and spiritually .

Please meet the Yorkshire wolf.

I have no evidence but I imagine that Luli’s shadow probably has angel wings. Graphy’s shadow possibly looks at the cat that made it jealously, it couldn’t be a better shadow of a cat even when it’s an actual shadow.

Can a shadow show the spirit of a thing?

I wonder if some of the world leaders we currently have always create shadows with horns, I mean devils horns, not horns of plenty obviously.

I bet they do.
